Catchgate is a former mining village which has recently become a conservation area in recognition of its historic past. Catchgate has its own village store, and further local amenities can be found at nearby Anfield Plain, which is just over 1 mile away. Here you'll find everything you need from hairdressers to a supermarket and library.
The town of Stanley is less than two miles away and has a wide range of facilities including a large supermarket, a swimming pool, sports hall and fitness suite. As well as a theatre regular market.

Slightly further afield is Beamish – The Living Museum of the North – a fun day out for all the family where you can experience everything from a Victorian shopping trip to a journey on a steam train. For shopping fans, The Metro Centre is just a short journey away. As Europe’s largest shopping and leisure complex you can spend hours wandering around the 340 shops, eating at the many restaurants and enjoying the IMAX cinema and bowling alley.
